Sylvia Trevino, MD

Dr. Trevino, a graduate of Plano High School, said, “It's a dream come true to be able to serve those in the town I call home.”

Dr. Trevino received her Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2007. While there, she received the Humanism Honor Society Award, 2006-2007, from University of Illinois College of Medicine, which recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, compassion, empathy, respect, integrity, exceptional commitment to service, as well as leadership in these areas.

She recently completed a pediatric residency and internship at Advocate Christ-Hope Children’s Hospital, Oak Lawn. In 2008, Dr. Trevino completed an internship in general surgery from Akron General Medical Center, Ohio, and in 2007, a year-long externship in anesthesia at University of Illinois’ Anesthesiology Department. From 2010 to 2012, she worked at Advocate Christ Medical Center’s NICU, Oak Lawn. She is board eligible and a member of American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Trevino is certified in pediatric advance life support (PALS), neonatal resuscitation (NRP), and moderate sedation. She is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Trevino said, “My training, as well as my ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, has prepared me well to serve the diverse patient population in the area. I'm excited to have the opportunity to provide quality care to children, as if they were my own. I feel privileged to soon be a big part of their families’ lives.” When Dr. Trevino reflected on her experiences that ultimately led her to choosing pediatrics as her specialty, she said, “I was meant to be a pediatrician and I couldn't be happier! I'm glad I followed my heart.”
